Keighley Laboratories has said a fond farewell to one of its longest serving employees.

Michael Emmott started his career at Keighley Labs in 1969 when he was employed as Trainee Inspector within the Heat Treatment division.  He also worked for a time in the Machine Shop and in Technical Services, providing him with a good all round knowledge of the business.

Keighley Labs supported Michael’s training as he progressed to gain qualifications in Engineering T6, City & Guilds 730 and a Maths and Computing Degree in the late 1980’s

Michael worked for 10 years as the Nightshift Supervisor in Heat Treatment, but a back injury lead to a move over to the planning team where his responsibilities included providing estimates and quotes for customers.  It was this role that highlighted Michael’s talent for building good business relationships and so he moved to Sales and Business Development, becoming HT Commercial Director in 2013.

Looking back over his long career, Michael considers his biggest achievement to be negotiating and winning a large overseas contract which required Keighley Labs to expand with the installation of three additional furnaces.

Following a leaving lunch with Directors, Michael said he will miss his colleagues, the travelling and opportunities to meet people.   He will also miss the challenges brought by the cut and thrust of business.

We wish Michael a happy and healthy retirement.  His humour and knowledge will be missed by many of his colleagues and customers.
