Keighley Laboratories Limited joined other local engineering companies in a recent event to promote engineering as a career choice for young girls.

Girls ages 14 to 17 attended an engineering information day hosted by GESIPA® GB- Kei.  Debbie Mellor, Managing Director, gave a presentation on the heat treatment and metallurgical testing work undertaken by Keighley Laboratories.  Other female engineers participating were from GESIPA, who produce rivets and fasteners for the automotive industry, Produmax who undertake precision engineering for the aerospace sector and DePuy Synthes who specialise in medical engineering.

The event included hands-on workshops, a factory tour and a session for parents to help them understand engineering as a career choice for their daughters.

Debbie Mellor said, “Engineering offers a fascinating and varied career.  I want more young girls to consider engineering as a real option and events like this will help to inspire them in their choices.”
