Keighley Laboratories Limited was pleased to support the Career and Jobs Fair hosted by Keighley College on Friday, 11th March 2016.

The event was an opportunity for us to showcase our business whilst providing Picture2students and job seekers with the chance to talk to a range of local employers and explore the variety of jobs and career paths on offer in the Keighley area.

The event was opened by Keighley and Ilkley MP, Kris Hopkins, and Nick Boles MP, the Minister of State for Skills.  The Minister spoke of the importance of manufacturing and engineering in the West Yorkshire area, providing jobs and export opportunities.  He encouraged young people to consider apprenticeships when choosing their careers as these provide opportunities to learn skills that are valued and provide job security.
Our Managing Director, Debbie Mellor, was one of ten local employers invited to join the MPs at a roundtable breakfast meeting held prior to the Career Fair.  Discussions focussed on business funding and skills shortages.  Debbie said, “Real emphasis needs to be given to capturing and inspiring the next generation of apprentices.  An apprenticeship can provide an alternative vocational route to achieving a high level qualification with established career prospects”.
