Kris Hopkins, the Member of Parliament for Keighley and Ilkley, recently paid a visit to Keighley Laboratories.
Managing Director, Debbie Mellor, met with Mr Hopkins. Their discussions included the value of apprenticeships, the skills gap and the importance of manufacturing in our area.
Debbie gave Mr Hopkins a whistle-stop tour of the facilities at Keighley Labs. Including the Heat Treatment Pit Shop, Test House and Metallurgical Microscope Suite. In the Technical Services Test House, Mr Hopkins watched as apprentices demonstrated Tensile Testing of metals.
Debbie adds, “The value of manufacturing should not be under-estimated, we need the Government to embrace this fully – something that Kris understands.”
